Keep Halloween fun for your pup too
With Halloween around the corner, keep candy where curious noses cannot reach it. If the doorbell and visitors make your dog uneasy, set up a quiet place with familiar comforts away from the front door. Check that their identification is current, and skip a costume if they seem uncomfortable wearing it.
A calm evening is a perfectly good way for a dog to celebrate. No costume required - but we know some dogs love the costumes like our ranch royalty shown here!
At home try a walk led by the nose
You know the spot your dog wants to investigate every single time? There may be more going on there than you can see. Sniffing is one of the ways dogs explore their surroundings, and making room for it can add interest to an everyday walk.
Choose a safe, quiet area, keep your dog on leash and let them spend a little longer investigating a scent when it's safe to do so. Keep them away from anything they might eat or places you cannot safely access. Think of this as an addition to the activity your dog needs, not a promise that a few minutes of sniffing replace their exercise.
